Bike Routes

Enjoy the green, forested hills of the Langhe and the refreshing nearby river during warm summer days. Let yourself be pampered by the culinary surprises Karin brings to the table. And don’t forget to explore the challenging biking opportunities our beautiful surroundings offer.

The region is known for its quiet roads and challenging climbs. During these rides, you can enjoy many panoramic views of the vine-covered hills. There are picturesque villages, numerous churches, squares, and ‘hidden’ spots where you can enjoy a delicious pranzo (lunch) or refreshing drinks along the way.

From Barbaia, there are countless opportunities to explore the challenging beauty of Piedmont by bike. Our team can tell you all about it—the dos and don’ts, the best spots, and the most scenic routes. We offer routes in GPX format (free to download) and also provide the option to book guided tours (for a fee). This can be arranged for a half-day or a full day including lunch or dinner.

We also offer the opportunity to explore the Milan – San Remo route or climb a true Alpine pass (various options). Please inquire with the Barbaia team for details.

Bike Routes

Roccaverano – Vesime

  • Route: Roccaverano – Vesime
  • Departure: Barbaia B&B and Camping – Ponte Levice
  • Distance: 55 km
  • Elevation gain: 990 meters
  •

The route gently slopes down towards Cortemillia, where the first and only climb begins toward Roccaverano. This climb stretches 13.5 km, and can be considered a gradual ascent (11.5 km). The challenging part is at the end, so be prepared! The last 2 km are quite steep, with gradients just over 10%. You’ll gain about 600 meters in elevation over 13.5 km.

The ride continues rolling toward Roccaverano and Vesime. From Vesime, take the valley road (a slightly busier route) back toward Cortemillia, then the last 9 km gently uphill back to the endpoint at Barbaia B&B and Camping.
